Find Barren Release Dates

A Barren County projected release date answers when a sentenced person may leave custody under the current calculation. It is not a guarantee. Pretrial detainees often have no fixed date because bond, court action, or case disposition controls their next custody event. State prisoners may have several date fields in Kentucky corrections records. County-only cases depend on court and jail records. To learn when they will be released, identify the custody authority, copy the official field exactly, and confirm the completed event after it occurs.

Barren Projected and Actual Dates

A projection uses sentence data, jail credit, earned credit, and rules known to the agency. Actual release is the later custody event. A pretrial Barren detainee has no sentence-based projected date. Bond, dismissal, court order, or later judgment may control. A sentenced county inmate may have a local calculation, while a state prisoner housed in the same jail follows Kentucky DOC computation.

Scheduled is not completed: a projected, proposed, minimum-expiration, or parole-eligibility date does not prove departure.

Ask who has legal custody before reading any date. Barren County Detention Center houses local detainees and some state prisoners. The building may be the same while the record path differs.

Find Barren Projected Release Dates

For a state prisoner, use Kentucky Offender Online Lookup. KOOL has Projected Release Date filters. A record can separately show Expected Time To Serve, Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date, Parole Eligibility Date, Maximum Expiration of Sentence Date, and sometimes a Proposed Release Date. Do not merge those labels.

  1. Get the name, DOC or PID number, conviction county, and sentence.
  2. Determine whether Barren County or Kentucky DOC controls custody.
  3. Search KOOL for a state-managed person and match identity.
  4. Copy each date with its exact label.
  5. Check parole eligibility and Board action separately.
  6. After the event, use a release sheet, Daily Releases entry, or discharge record.

For county-only cases, call the jail at 270-651-8806 and request the maintained release or calculation record. The court clerk can provide the judgment and later orders. The Barren release search distinguishes current custody from completed release.

Kentucky Credits Change Barren Dates

KRS 197.045 governs state sentence credits. It addresses prior-confinement credit and qualifying education, treatment, good behavior, meritorious work, and emergency service. DOC may forfeit earned credit or deny future credit after an offense or rule violation. Consecutive sentences aggregate for computation.

The statute has conditions, exclusions, and ceilings. It is not a public calculator. A person does not automatically earn every form of credit, and some treatment-linked credit is held until required treatment is complete. DOC's individual calculation controls.

Barren Violent-Offender Date Rules

KRS 439.3401 defines covered violent offenders. Current law includes an 85-percent service requirement for people within its scope. It does not apply to every Kentucky felony, every Barren detainee, or every offense date.

First classify the conviction and applicable statutory version. Covered life sentences have separate language, and older offenses can fall under preserved law. Official DOC and Parole Board dates are safer than a hand calculation based on a charge label.

Why Barren Release Dates Move

A projected date can change before departure. Each cause belongs to a different official record.

Consecutive termsChanges aggregationJudgment and DOC

Shock probation and mandatory reentry supervision need exact labels. Neither is simply parole. A Daily Releases PDF can show the state release type and releasing facility.

Barren Jail Date Computation

Barren's key quirk is the split between local and state authority. A county matter follows the judgment, jail credit, and local policy. KOOL may have no record. A state felony prisoner held at Barren County Detention Center follows DOC computation and can appear in KOOL and Daily Releases.

No fixed Barren release hour, weekend rule, or public local formula was verified. Ask whether the person is held as a county detainee or DOC prisoner, then request the matching record.

Confirm Barren Actual Release

Use VINE for notice, but read Release and Transfer separately. The Barren VINE inmate check explains why local and DOC records may both need registration. For a completed state event, check the dated DOC PDF. For a local event, obtain the jail release sheet and court order.

KOOL warns that data newer than 120 days may not be finalized. A past projection is weaker than a completed release type, supervision start, discharge field, or source-agency record. Final verification should answer whose custody ended and where the person went next.

Read Barren KOOL Date Labels

KOOL can place several dates on one record because each answers a different question. Expected Time To Serve describes the agency’s time calculation. Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date is also labeled the good-time release date. Maximum Expiration of Sentence Date marks the outer sentence endpoint shown by the record. Parole Eligibility Date concerns when parole review can occur, not when release must happen.

A Proposed Release Date can appear in parole history after a recommendation. It remains distinct from actual departure. The Parole Information table can also show Hearing Date, Hearing Action, Months Deferred, and Next Parole Eligibility Date. Copy each label and value together. A date detached from its label is easy to misread.

Kentucky Credit Limits for Barren

KRS 197.045 gives more detail than a single monthly formula can capture. It provides prior-confinement credit under KRS 532.120 and identifies credits tied to approved education, vocational or technical work, qualifying postsecondary study, drug treatment, evidence-based programming, promising practices, and life-skills programs. Some listed achievements can provide 90 days, and some approved programs can permit up to 90 days.

The statute also permits good-behavior credit up to ten days per month served. Separate discretionary categories can allow up to seven days per month for exceptionally meritorious service or duties of outstanding institutional importance, and up to seven days per month for exceptional emergency service. These are categories and ceilings. They do not mean one person automatically receives all credits at their maximum.

DOC may forfeit earned credit or deny future credit after an offense or institutional-rule violation. Consecutive sentences aggregate for credit and expiration calculations. Certain treatment-linked credits can accrue without being applied until required treatment is completed. The official time calculation, not a homemade subtraction, determines how these rules affect one Barren state prisoner.

Barren Parole Dates Differ

The Kentucky Parole Board decides discretionary parole. A hearing can occur before the actual eligibility date, and a favorable action does not prove physical departure. “Parole Recommended” can carry a proposed release date. “Deferred” supplies a period and later eligibility date. “Serve Out” means custody continues to sentence completion. “Parole Revoked” means an earlier community release was withdrawn.

Eligibility rules depend on the conviction, offense date, sentence, and applicable law. Current KRS 439.340 includes a special review point for some nonviolent Class D felony sentences, while KRS 439.3401 contains separate violent-offender limits. These provisions cannot be combined without first classifying the case. Use the Board’s eligibility date and action rather than an unsourced hand calculation.

Mandatory Reentry Supervision under KRS 439.3406 is not Board-granted parole. A DOC Daily Releases report may use that exact term even after discretionary parole was not granted. Preserve it. The event can move a person outside confinement under statutory and DOC operation while supervision continues.

Barren Holds Change Destinations

A projected release date can mark the expected end of one custody basis while another hold changes what happens next. A detainer is a request or notice that another authority may take custody. Another county, Kentucky DOC, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE may be the receiving custodian. The person can leave Barren County Detention Center without entering the community.

Ask the jail whether its maintained release entry names a destination or receiving agency. Then use that agency’s system. A Barren transfer to Kentucky DOC should be followed in KOOL and VINE. An ICE detainer requires an ICE check, and the local event should remain described as a transfer unless a later ICE release is independently established.

Court orders can also change the date or authority. A corrected sentence, bond order, dismissal, shock-probation order, revocation, or later judgment belongs in the court file. Match that legal record with the jail’s physical event time. An order alone may precede processing and does not prove that the person exited at the moment it was signed.

Barren Daily Release Confirmation

Kentucky DOC’s Daily Releases archive supplies dated PDFs for completed state-system events. Reports can list Barren County Detention Center in the “Released From” column because Kentucky may house a state prisoner in a county jail. The report is not a list of every local Barren booking release.

Match the DOC number, name, Type of Release, Released From facility, and felony class. Preserve exact types such as “Discharged - Minimum Expiration,” “Shock Probation Began - In State,” or “Mandatory Reentry Supervision - In State.” Each describes a different outcome. The release type is stronger than a generic summary.

The research identified an official Barren example whose report URL is labeled July 16, 2026 while the internal report heading says July 17. Record both when documenting that file rather than silently choosing one. Date mismatches make the internal event fields and DOC number especially important.

For a county-only sentence, the DOC archive may show nothing. Obtain the Barren jail release sheet, time-calculation record if maintained and disclosable, and the controlling court orders. County and state calculations remain separate even when both people were housed in the same building.

Replace Barren Projections After Release

Once the event occurs, replace the projection with completed-event evidence. For a local matter, use the detention center release entry and court order. For a state matter, use the Daily Releases report, KOOL status, and any supervision start information. VINE can corroborate the event but should retain its exact Release or Transfer wording.

  1. Save the projected date with its full label and retrieval date.
  2. Check for a corrected sentence, Board action, credit change, or detainer.
  3. After the projected time, review the live custody and notification records.
  4. Obtain the completed release or transfer record from the source agency.
  5. Record the destination and any supervision status.
  6. Keep the former projection as historical context, not as the final release fact.

This sequence distinguishes “expected,” “eligible,” “recommended,” “released from custody,” and “under supervision.” Those stages can occur on different dates, and some may never occur in a particular case.
