Barren County Release Meaning
“Released” does not describe one outcome. Barren County Detention Center can release someone on bond, court order, time served, probation, shock probation, parole, mandatory reentry supervision, or sentence discharge. It can also release a person to Kentucky DOC, another county, federal custody, or ICE. The last group represents a change of custodian, not a confirmed return to the community.
The source must fit the event. The jail release sheet documents departure from county custody. A court order gives the legal basis. KOOL and Kentucky DOC Daily Releases cover state-managed cases. VINE reports custody changes, while a supervision record can show community oversight after release.
- Bond
- Pretrial departure subject to court conditions, not case dismissal.
- Time served
- Release after the custodial time required by the order has been credited.
- Discharge
- Completion of the sentence obligation shown by the releasing authority.
- Transfer
- Movement to another custodian rather than community release.
Barren County Release Types
Read the release type exactly as maintained. Do not replace a specific state label with a more familiar term. Shock probation, minimum-expiration discharge, and mandatory reentry supervision have different legal meanings.
| Type | What it means | Next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond | Jail departure under bond terms | Release sheet and court order |
| Time served | Custodial term credited as complete | Judgment and jail-credit order |
| Parole or probation | Community supervision follows | KOOL and Glasgow office |
| DOC discharge | State sentence event completed | Daily Releases and KOOL |
| Transfer | Another agency takes custody | Receiving system |
A bond event does not prove acquittal or final case closure. A parole eligibility date does not prove parole was granted. A favorable parole action does not prove same-day physical departure.
Barren County Release Record Fields
The maintained booking/release sheet is the core local record. It ties a person and booking episode to the end of county custody. Available fields can vary, so ask for the equivalent record if the agency uses another name.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and booking number | The identity and local custody episode |
| Booking date | When the detention episode began |
| Release date and time | When county custody ended |
| Release type or authority | Bond, order, sentence event, or transfer basis |
| Destination or receiving agency | Where custody went next, if maintained |
| Booking photograph | The image tied to the booking, subject to access limits |
Public website display and official retention are separate. The disappearance of a record or image from a live page does not establish destruction. Kentucky’s archives framework makes the applicable retention schedule, not web design, the authority for disposition.
Request Barren Release Records
Use the detention center’s official open-records route. Ask for an existing booking/release sheet or release-log entry. Identify the person, booking number if known, and a narrow date range.
- Describe the exact record and request electronic delivery.
- Ask for maintained release date, time, type, authority, and destination fields.
- State the applicable Kentucky resident category if the agency requires it.
- Ask for a fee estimate; no universal Barren flat fee was verified.
- If denied, request the specific exception and explanation.
KRS Chapter 61 covers applications, copies, agency rules, exemptions, and decisions. KRS 61.880 generally requires a written decision within five days excluding weekends and legal holidays. Privacy, confidentiality, and investigatory limits can require withholding or redaction.
Barren Release Records Law
KRS 61.872 defines access in terms of a Kentucky resident and statutory categories. KRS 61.874 addresses formats and fees. KRS 61.876 requires agency rules and custodian information. KRS 61.878 contains exemptions. A narrow request is more useful than demanding an entire institutional file.
Juvenile, sealed, expunged, confidential-by-law, and properly exempt investigatory material may not be available like an ordinary adult release record. DOC inmate material receives further review under KRS 197.025 and 501 KAR 6:540. When an agency says no record exists, ask whether it was never created, transferred to another custodian, or destroyed under a named schedule.
Barren County Release Turnover
Local reporting attributed to jail figures counted 2,933 imprisonments and 2,944 releases in 2025. The near-3,000 turnover explains why a live roster cannot work as a historical release archive.
Those are custody events, not necessarily unique people or community releases. The report also described the jail as serving Barren, Monroe, Metcalfe, and state prisoners. Authority can change while a person remains in the same building.
Find Barren County Released Inmates
Begin with the official current list. A match supports current jail custody at the time checked. Absence proves neither release nor destination.
- Match the full name and booking details on the current list.
- Call the jail and request the local release sheet when the name is gone.
- Search KOOL for state custody, discharge, or supervision.
- Check VINELink and register for both local and DOC records if both exist.
- Retrieve the Barren court order or disposition.
- Follow a named federal, ICE, or other receiving agency.
For same-day or three-day review, use 24-Hour Releases or 72-Hour Releases. Barren had no verified official rolling feed, so those paths reconstruct events from records rather than promise a county list.
Kentucky Search for Barren Releases
KOOL searches by name and identifier and offers filters for offender type, supervision status, county of supervision, escape or abscond dates, and projected release date ranges. Open the record and compare DOC number, location, conviction, status, and dates.
The official KOOL notice says updates occur daily and data newer than 120 days may not be finalized. The notice shown here is a reminder to verify fresh fields against an event record.

The Daily Releases archive can then confirm a state event with DOC number, release type, released-from facility, and felony class. It is not a feed of all local jail releases.
Barren Court Release Verification
Barren’s local court path is direct. The Circuit Court Clerk lists courthouse access, three phone lines, and weekday hours. Ask for the bond or pretrial release order, dismissal order, judgment, jail-credit order, probation order, revocation order, or discharge entry that fits the case.

The court file can survive roster disappearance. Yet a judgment or sentence alone does not prove the body left custody at a particular time. Pair it with the jail or DOC release event.
Barren ICE Release Transfers
An ICE detainer asks another agency for notice before release and continued custody for up to 48 hours beyond the otherwise-release time. If the Barren record says “released to ICE,” county custody ended but immigration custody may have begun.
Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator promptly. ICE says it covers people currently detained and those released from ICE custody within the last 60 days. A silent result after that window cannot disprove earlier ICE custody. An A-number search requires nine digits, with leading zeros added when needed.
Barren Expunged Release Records
Kentucky’s expungement process begins with a $40 certification and filing in the county of the original case. The current official page describes a felony total of $300: $50 due on filing and $250 if relief is granted.

A granted order directs listed official repositories to expunge. Later absence can therefore reflect lawful removal rather than prove no historical custody. Eligibility is fact-specific and cannot be decided from a roster entry.
Barren Release Source Comparison
Use each system only for its designed scope.
| Source | Best answer | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Jail roster | Current Barren custody | No release reason |
| Release sheet | County departure time and type | Must be requested |
| KOOL | State custody, discharge, supervision | Not every local case |
| VINE | Release or transfer alert | Not a full archive |
| Court | Legal order and disposition | May not show departure time |
| BOP or ICE | Federal-system status | System-specific scope |
Barren County Release Facilities
Barren County Detention Center is the local secure facility. Kentucky Department of Corrections custody network covers state prisoners, including some housed locally. The Federal Bureau of Prisons custody network applies to federal sentences, while the ICE detention network applies only when immigration custody is documented.
Barren Release Notifications
Kentucky VINE is a free and confidential way to monitor a specific custody record. Open VINELink, select Kentucky, choose Find an Offender, and search by a partial name or jail or DOC number. Compare the facility and identifier before choosing a result. Then select “Notify Me of Status Changes” and follow the prompts for the delivery methods offered.
Kentucky DOC warns that one person can have both a local-jail VINE record and a DOC VINE record. Register for both when both appear. The local record can report departure from Barren County Detention Center, while the DOC record can report a later state transfer or release. Registration on only one record can miss the second custody layer.
Phone registration is available at 800-511-1670, with TTY service at 866-847-1298. A phone registration uses a four-digit PIN to acknowledge calls. Release calls can repeat every 30 minutes for up to 24 hours or until the PIN is entered. A state institution may attempt notice 72 hours before release when possible, but court orders, parole action, credits, or escape can allow notice only when the event occurs. Notification timing is not a public recent-release list.
Barren Post-Release Supervision
A community status in KOOL can show that secure custody ended while state supervision continues. Search Supervision Status and County of Supervision, then open the individual record. A location such as “Glasgow Office - Barren County,” paired with supervision begin and end dates, supports local post-release oversight. Confirm identity with the DOC or PID number and conviction fields.
The Kentucky DOC Division of Probation and Parole operates the Barren satellite at 100-B Reynolds Road in Glasgow. The office phone is 270-678-7443. The Kentucky Parole Board makes parole decisions, while the field office administers community supervision. An abscond designation means an alleged failure to remain in contact or comply and may lead to a warrant. It is not a new kind of release.
Parole and probation are distinct. Parole follows part of a prison sentence and is decided through the parole process. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence or condition. Both can include reporting duties and end dates, but neither should be inferred from roster absence alone. Use the person-specific KOOL record, Board result, and court order.
Barren Federal Release Checks
Use the BOP inmate locator only for a federal sentence. Search by BOP, FBI, INS, or DCDC number when known, or use the name search and compare register number, age, race, and sex. A past Release Date with Location “RELEASED” means the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not prove that federal supervision ended or rule out custody elsewhere.
BOP public data mainly covers federal prisoners released after 1982. Older records may require the National Archives. A person shown “IN TRANSIT” may have been removed by the U.S. Marshals Service and released by a court without a later BOP update. In that situation, retrieve the federal court order and contact the jail that housed the person. No public USMS historical release locator was confirmed.
Barren Bond Release Records
The detention center’s official bonds page lists personal-recognizance bonds, unsecured or surety bonds, and partially secured bonds. It states that payments are cash with exact change and directs cash bonds above $10,000 to the Circuit Clerk. Confirm those terms before traveling because operating rules can change.
The page itemizes a $55 administrative or booking charge, a $5 jail bond charge, a $25 court filing charge, and a $40 daily housing charge for Barren prisoners. The stated $28 rate for other-county prisoners is also an individual-facing figure. Those amounts are different from intergovernmental housing rates reported for Monroe, Metcalfe, and state prisoners.
A release sheet marked “bond” should be paired with the bond or release order and, where useful, the receipt. That set can corroborate the reason and time of departure. It still does not show the final result of the criminal case. Check the later docket and disposition separately.
Barren Release Record Retention
No Barren-specific duration for public web display was verified. A booking photograph or custody entry can disappear from the jail interface while an underlying agency record remains subject to its retention schedule. Kentucky’s State Libraries, Archives and Records Commission is the authority for public-record disposition. Ask the custodian to identify the schedule when a requested record is said to have been destroyed.
The court file often lasts longer than a live jail entry and may contain citations, pleadings, motions, orders, dockets, video, reports, and transcripts. Archived material may require a case number and file-locator number from the clerk before a request goes to the state archive. CourtNet contains public case information from all Kentucky counties, but it is not a promise of free, unrestricted name access for every visitor.
A booking photograph deserves the same source check as a status field. The active jail entry may carry one, and KOOL often includes a DOC photograph when a camera icon appears. Those images can come from different custody systems. A third-party copy may remain online after official records change, so it cannot establish current status, release date, or release reason.
The Kentucky sex-offender registry is narrow. It applies only to people with a registration duty. Presence supports that duty or status, not a Barren jail release date. Absence proves neither that no arrest occurred nor that no release occurred. Return to the jail, court, or DOC record for the custody event.
